Sitting Landscape

This series sparks back to my degree, two large ceramic sculptures. The series is all about life leaving its mark on the Earth. Once barren flat, lifeless scene is transformed into a place full of life light and colour. Water has carved out valleys and shaped the world to give life, that also continually shapes the earth. In these pieces I looked at the Aborigines lives, their stories about how life was created and marked the landscape. The Sitting Landscapes are shaped as a landform their tall backs inspired by the crocodile as these live both on land and water swimming and slithering around leaving their mark on both. The sitting part is a valley where the water has carved out the land and is now where you can sit and on doing so leave your mark.
